MATTR launches into AWS New Zealand Region, enabling on-shore digital trust for government and regulated organisations

MATTR today announced the general availability of its MATTR VII platform in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific (New Zealand) Region, making it one of the first technology providers to deploy production workloads in the Region and benefit from AWS’s global secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure.

This new offering allows organisations to use the full suite of MATTR VII capabilities locally in New Zealand. This includes digital credential issuance, credential verification, and trust network infrastructure, allowing data to be processed on infrastructure hosted on-shore under New Zealand jurisdiction.

“This is a genuinely meaningful step forward for New Zealand’s digital trust ecosystem,” said Claire Barber, CEO of MATTR. “For a long time, organisations have had to balance innovation against data residency requirements. With this launch, that trade-off disappears. Customers can now access MATTR’s complete platform while processing core customer data in New Zealand, alongside the scale and resilience of our global infrastructure.”

For government agencies and regulated organisations, hosting solutions locally provides clear advantages. These include compliance with New Zealand data residency policies, reduced latency for end users, stronger assurance for critical systems, and increased confidence when handling sensitive personal information. With MATTR VII now available in the AWS New Zealand Region, organisations can adopt modern digital credential and verification services without compromising on these requirements.

Martin Eichenberg, Head of Site Reliability & Operations at MATTR said, “We worked closely with AWS to bring key MATTR capabilities into the AWS New Zealand Region as soon as it launched in late 2025, to provide customers the same reliability, scalability, and security we provide in Australia, North America, and Europe.”

MATTR’s early adoption of the AWS New Zealand Region positions the company at the forefront of local cloud innovation. It complements MATTR’s existing standard cloud deployments in Australia, the United States, Canada, and Germany, while providing New Zealand organisations with a secure, world-class local option.

Amazon Web Services’ new Country Manager for New Zealand, Manuel Bohnet, said MATTR demonstrates the kind of innovation the new AWS Region is designed to support.

“MATTR is a great example of the innovation we're enabling with the AWS Region in New Zealand. As one of our first customers to deploy production workloads locally, MATTR is helping government and regulated industries adopt modern digital trust solutions while providing data processing residency, low latency, and world-class security and availability. We're excited to support MATTR’s goal of accelerating New Zealand's digital transformation.”

This launch marks a major milestone for MATTR and for New Zealand’s digital future, laying a strong foundation for what comes next.

“This is about more than infrastructure,” Claire Barber added. “It is about unlocking momentum. Having MATTR available on-shore opens the door for many more organisations to participate in digital trust ecosystems, knowing their data stays local and their solutions are future-ready.”
